academia and how to balance work and life.

Dr. Leslie Field, consultant, manager, and founder of Small Tech Consulting, came and shared her experiences balancing work and life through an entertaining talk titled, "Mommy, will you be my Nanny? The Work/Life Balance with Children".
September 27, 2007 - Fall BBQ
WEE held a BBQ to kick off the 2007-2008 academic year. More than 40 people showed up at what looks like could become an annual event!
April 6, 2007 - WEE in PhD Comics!
On May 5th 2006, WEE invited Jorge Cham
to gave his talk on the
Power of Procrastination
here at Stanford. The talk was a roaring success, and his take on it is shown in
this comic panel
where WEE gets a big mention!
Sept 8, 2006 - End of Summer BBQ
WEE ended the 2005-2006 academic year with a BBQ by Lake Lagunita,
and voted on the board for the 2006-2007 academic year.
May 3, 2005 - Life in Academia seminar a success!
WEE, WCLG and the ASSU Speaker's Bureau all co-sponsored an evening
seminar with four young Stanford professors. The event was attended
by over 150 people and was a huge success, paving the way for future
collaborations. SEE PICTURES!

Winter 2005 - Lockheed supports WEE
During Winter quarter 2005, Lockheed-Martin
gave WEE a generous contribution. WEE thanks them very much! :)
Oct 27, 2004 - SNRC contributes to WEE
Today
Stanford Networking Research Center (SNRC)
contributed $500 to help with the launch of WEE! We thank SNRC very much for their
generocity! :)
Oct 19, 2004 - WEE approved as a Stanford Student Organization
WEE was today approved as a Voluntary Student Organization (VSO) by the Stanford
Office of Student Activities (OSA).
This, among other things, opens the door for WEE to get funding from the
Graduate Students Council (GSC) so it is very important.
Now we just need to write a constitution to become official. :)
Oct 17, 2004 - Sally Ride Science Festival
WEE participated in a
Sally Ride Science Festival on campus this year
and it was a huge success!!
Sarah Harriman (with debugging help from Augusto Roman) built an EKG
(electro-cardio-gram), as suggested by Viola Rieke. Sarah manned the
table at the festival along with Taly Gilat, and no doubt made a good impression
on many of the young girls (and boys, along with their parents) that stopped
by to try the EKG. SEE PICTURES!
Sept 28, 2004 - Big Sister/Little Sister Program Kick-Off
Today we matched up over twenty pairs of big
and little sisters!
The matching was done during a lunch meeting, where everybody introduced
themselves and by going from person to person we found a big sister/little
sister to suit everyone! Those that could not attend the meeting,
but emailed us, were matched up later.
